                            15th of October...The International White Cane Day


The White Cane was invented in 1930 by Lion George Bonham in the United States of America, as awalking instrument for the blind to enable them to move freely and independently and detect obstacles in their way. The white cane was initially developed and put into use as a measure of safety, especially in traffic situations.
White Cane Day, as an international awareness raising event, celebrates the importance of the white cane and promotes a safe environment for long cane users.
The International White Cane Day is celebrated on October 15 of every year. This day of recognition is held around the world to highlight the important symbol of blindness and tool of independence, the WHITE CANE and also promote the safety needs of the visually impaired in the communit
